Five days since I last posted?
And I was on such a roll.
Actually, I thought I'd take a break from late night blogging
and try to get some rest for once.
Turns out, my plan didn't work and I'm just as tired tonight as I was a week ago.
I'm pretty sure it just comes with the motherhood territory,
and I plan to return to my fully rested self
sometime in my seventies.
Until then...I'll resume my late night blogging.
The weekend was enjoyable, as most weekends are,
except I actually got to see my husband this weekend,
which made it even better than usual.
He was able to double back on the day shift Saturday,
which means he got home from work at 11pm Friday night
and left for work again at 5:30 the next morning,
which means he was very tired,
but I was very happy.
And a happy wife means a happy husband in most cases.
And that's all that really matters.
We were able to go to Ryan's cousin's house for a BBQ,
and enjoy some adult conversations.
We saw some friends we haven't seen in a while,
and were not interrupted by crying, barking, or meowing.
Just a few things that are unavoidable in our house these days.
Ryan didn't have to work Sunday (happy dance).
Since we stayed out late the night before, Laci blessed us with a 5:30 rising Sunday morning.
I didn't want to push my luck, so I let Ryan sleep in,
put good ole' Elmo on the TV and tried my best not to fall asleep on the couch.
Morning naptime couldn't come soon enough for me.
Then we went to Home Depot.
We bought some stuff to finish the bathroom in the shop
(which I need to take pictures of),
and spent the rest of the day talking about all the things we should have been doing.
I think we expended more effort discussing how much needed to get done
than actually doing it.
But sometimes, Sundays are just like that.
Since my sister scolded me for being a "Debbie Downer" about Summer ending,
I have decided to embrace the changing season whole-heartedly.
And to be completely honest, I'm thinking maybe I don't like Summer that much after all.
The Summer weather? Absolutely my favorite.
But, Ryan works too much, and I have too much work to do outside, and we don't really get to DO anything,
like camp, or swim, or even BBQ, since he's gone every evening.
Of course, Summer does mean that I get to spend an abundance of time with my mom and dad,
and they will be missing Laci and me (but mostly Laci) when we aren't down there every night for dinner.
But the onset of Fall means that Ryan will not have to work so much.
We'll get our weekends and evenings back,
and even start eating dinner as a family again.
I wore a sweatshirt the other night for the first time and I think maybe even the cooler weather is a little nice.
And I'm more than ready for the rain to turn my brown fields back to green.
So, bring it on Fall. I'm ready.
And one more thing.
This is the wagon my sisters and I used to play in.
We had so much fun in this thing.
We'd tie it behind bicycles and even a tricycle and pull each other.
I remember we had this one "special" game where the sole purpose
was to scare the bajeezus out of Beth.
I don't remember the details, but I believe
it involved pushing the wagon as fast as possible,
letting go of the handle,
and yelling "Free Willy."
Poor girl. I can't remember why we enjoyed tormenting her like that,
I just know that we did.
