My Tiny Baby

Laci went for her one-year checkup yesterday at thirteen months.
That's one of the things I love about her pediatrician,
he likes to do everything one month after every other doctor normally does.
First shots at three months instead of two really made me happy.
Something about an eight week old getting poked three times is just wrong,
although a twelve week old really isn't that much better.

I was looking at my little girl this weekend and thinking
about how big she is getting.
She can't walk under the table anymore without ducking,
and she feels like she weighs a ton as I lug her around the yard.
I was anxious to see how much she has grown since her last checkup three months ago.
Half a pound and 1 1/4 inches.
That is what she has gained in six months.
Half a pound.
Bringing her up to a whopping 17 1/2 pounds exactly,
and dropping her down to the third percentile.
She's a whopping 27 3/4 inches tall.
Also the third percentile.
I'm not worried, really.
Tiny babies are very common on Ryan's side of the family.
But I am disappointed that she'll probably be on her way to
Kindergarten before she can ride (legally) in a forward facing carseat.
I might be exaggerating.
I might not.
We'll see.

The good thing is, she's healthy, and active, and smart,
and very, very, very opinionated.
The size of her personality more than makes up for her petite stature.
I have no doubt she'll always be able to stand up for herself, no matter how small she may be.
And most of all, I love snuggling her tiny little body.
So, other than the whole carseat thing,
I love that my baby is still tiny.
