once upon a time

Once upon a time, all my pictures were organized on my hard drive, complete with people and location tags. Finding pictures was a breeze.  I printed a beautiful annual album of all my favorite pictures and we sat down as a family in the evenings to relive our memories and marvel at how the girls have grown.

Then I woke up.

To 20,000-something pictures.  Some tagged, some not.  Hundreds, maybe even thousands, waiting to be deleted because of blur, repetition, random pictures of the floor, whatever the reason.  Waiting, all of them, to be printed into some sort of tangible item, be it book or canvas or a simple 4x6 print to be put in an old-fashioned sticky album.

And I shook my head at the thought of this daunting task.  Where do I start?  I mean, logically, I would just start somewhere, anywhere, as that would at least be a step in the right direction.  And I will do that.  Someday.  Not today.

Instead, I pick a couple random pictures from March that I like.

I remember making her sit next to the bathroom window for this one.

And a couple more from May.

She's eating one of her favorite foods (ice), and her hair is exceptionally wild.

And I'll continue to wait until I get the inspiration to begin photo sifting, editing, wading, whatever you want to call it.  I'm sure it will happen.  I just know it's not today.
