I love the Pinterest. I am not yet an obsessive, addicted, constant pinner because I don't have that much time, but I can see how I could easily become one. It is by far the best way to keep track of all those awesome things I see on the Internet - projects and inspiration and whatnot - that I plan to look at and hopefully use. One day. Some day. That's the problem, I pin but I rarely find time to go back and actually use what I've found.
So, this morning, I did my best to avoid browsing my feed and getting sucked into a repinning abyss, and went straight to my "kid stuff" board to find a tutorial on making play dough.
And then, we made play dough. We mixed ingredients, cooked, kneaded, and MADE play dough.
Laci helped stir, did a few taste tests, and then spent over an hour smashing and rolling and yes, eating, our creation. It doesn't have the perfectly smooth texture and signature scent of real Play-do, but, given Laci's consumption of the dough, I was glad it wasn't the real stuff.
The recipe came from this site and it probably took less than 20 minutes to make the batter, split it into two batches (so we could have two colors), and cook it up. It was fun, and for a few brief moments, I felt like Super Mom.
Then I had to clean up the mess, while Mia fussed in the high chair because she was hungry, and Laci asked for yellow and green dough, and I told her we didn't have enough salt to make more, so then nobody was happy, and THAT ended the whole Super Mom feeling. But it was nice while it lasted.
Just in case you're wondering, Laci has not been beaten in the head, she has a giant mosquito bite on her eyebrow, and Mia's face isn't rashy, it has a big, red pacifier impression because she woke up midway through our project and I put her directly from her bed into the high chair so we could finish up. Making memories is awesome!
Ha ha, I totally get sucked into pinterest more often that I would like to admit. But there are some great finds on there!
