doors {you capture}

I have lived in the same town almost my entire life.  I have seen it change in many ways.  I have seen it stay the same in even more ways.  I often wonder what a stranger would see of this little town I call home.  Would a stranger find and appreciate beauty in the landmarks I have seen so many times they no longer make an impression?

Today, I ventured out to the Bath House in search of an interesting door for this week's photo challenge.  The Bath House was built in the 1930's near the river to provide restrooms and showers for swimmers.  It was abandoned after a major flood in 1937 made the river too dangerous for swimming.  I have never been inside the bath house (tours are available by appointment), nor have I ever considered it as an interesting photo subject.

It was an enjoyable five minutes of shooting (while my mom sat in the car with two sleeping babies).  I am thinking this should become a regular thing - me shooting my hometown, but with new eyes.  If it happens, I will share.

    1. Thank you. It's a pretty popular place for photos in our town. Lots of rocks and texture for a backdrop.

  5. My husband really liked these shots. He thinks you should take pictures of the old jail in that little park downtown, the pioneer cemetery, and these old stone pillars in an olive orchard near the green bridge (I have no idea what he's talking about on the last one . . . and this from a guy from Durham!).

    1. Tell him Thank You! I have no idea where there is an orchard by the bridge either?!? I had wanted to walk around downtown and take some pictures, but it was too windy for Mia. When the weather gets a little warmer, I plan to try again. I'll have to add the cemetery and jail to my list of places to go. And now, I feel like I'm on a mission to find an orchard with stone pillars! If I find it, I'll let you know. :)
