it's beginning to look like a house on the inside, too

Everyday feels a little like Groundhog Day. Not the one where we get all excited about a groundhog seeing his shadow and the promise of Spring, but the one where Bill Murray is stuck reliving the same day over and over. Except, unlike Bill, I know that tomorrow is near. Soon, tomorrow will be today and I'll wake up in my new room, make breakfast in my new kitchen, and quite possibly never leave my home again. Then I'll have to pinch myself to make sure it's really real and I'll wonder how I ever got so lucky.

I want to send out a huge THANK YOU for all the encouraging comments, emails, and messages saying, "Hang in there. It will all be worth it!" I appreciate the support, and "Hang in there," has become a mantra we repeat daily, specifically when the road gets a little bumpy. Ryan works on the house every weekend, and everyday after his real job during the week, while the girls and I do our best to stay out of the way. I'm ready for us to be able to make plans for the weekend again and to relax in the evenings. Together. In our own home.

We finished painting the cabinet bases last Sunday, but haven't started the doors and drawers yet. That's how things go when you're doing it yourself. Ryan has been busy installing outlets, lights switches, and fixtures, so painting has taken a back burner.

The counter tops are in, and I love them! The pictures aren't very good at showing the colors. They look solid black, but there are specks of color in there too, silver, brown, green, it just depends on the light.  They are also extremely dusty, as is every other surface in the house.

The tub deck is in (cabinet fronts removed so we can install the tub).  Bubbles...I'm looking forward to bubbles...in the tub and in my glass.  Cheers.

We have decided on the carpet and laminate colors. Woohoo! Two less decisions we have to make. The last major decision is tile for the bathrooms, and, after four trips to look at tile, I think we have it narrowed down to just a couple of choices. I'm a much better decision maker when there are fewer options. Can you tell I'm not a fan of making decisions? Especially ones I'll be stuck with for quite a long time.
It is all coming together, one painstakingly slow step after another. One more month? Maybe? I won't even make a prediction at this point. But I do see a very faint light at the end of this tunnel, which is more than I could say when we started so very many months ago.
