Yesterday, I took Laci to the pumpkin patch. It was supposed to be just a simple little trip, but, as most things go with my family, it turned into a bit of an ordeal and my whole family had to join in. The thought of missing out on Laci picking a pumpkin was more than my sisters, my mom, or even my dad could handle, so they all tagged along. Ironically, Laci could not have cared less about the pumpkins. She was much more interested in removing all the signs and running around. In fact, I believe her favorite part was playing with the little plastic cup the apple cider was served in.
The place we went to is just a cute little local farm, no big kid-centric attractions, which is perfect considering Laci is only one and only needs a plastic cup for entertainment. They have some pumpkins and gourds for sale, and a little store of crafty home decor things. It really is a cute place and provides some opportunities for really cute pictures. Of course, Laci wasn't exactly *smiley*, so I had to settle for super serious baby pictures, but I've learned to take what I can get from this girl. And yes, I know her hair is super crazy.
I would have loved to buy a giant pumpkin like Kristina's, but I don't feel like carving this year, and I don't even have an oven big enough to make a pumpkin pie. So, I settled on a half dozen tiny pumpkins in all different colors to decorate my table. That's about as festive as I feel this year. Thankfully, Laci is too young to know the difference, although I guess I'll have to step up my game in the years to come.
I love that Kristina is always willing to pose for a picture, although I'm not sure she loves that I blow her up so big on my blog. I just think she has the prettiest smile and she almost always takes a good picture. Notice the giant pumpkin she chose - that's pure Kristina. She always goes big! Also, notice the plastic cup in Laci's hand. Tiny plastic Dixie cup = priceless, entertainment treasure.
It was a fun, little family trip. Short, sweet, and tantrum-free. However, there are a few things I'm hoping to improve next year. One, Ryan will be forced to join us. Two, I have to get a picture of me, and everyone else too...I swear Laci and Kristina weren't the only ones there. And three, I'll have to force myself into the holiday spirit and pick at least one giant pumpkin to take home. Who knows, maybe I'll really embrace it next year and I'll even carve a few, but I won't hold my breath on that one.
Yay! We had fun didn't we. :)

Well I haven't carved the pumpkin yet the whole mushroom ordeal and the weather messed that on up for me. But I did buy a super Wal-mart carving kit so I am ready when the weather clears up, all I need is a cute pattern!
