what we've been up to

It appears I have found some hidden fountain of energy to get a few things done this week.  Well, mostly just one really big thing, which led to some smaller things, and while I still have more stuff to do, it is feeling a little more manageable.  Did that sentence even make sense?  Probably not.  Moving on.

I started with Ryan's old dresser on Tuesday.

Did some painting.  And some other stuff not pictured.

And ended up with this.

A new dresser for the girls to share because baby brother will be getting their old dresser.  And I really like it.  But let me tell you, I'm kinda tired.

Also, I feel like projects like this need some disclaimer, so here it is.  I am not super woman.  Shocking, I'm sure.  Completing a project like this means several things:  1.  My mom and/or Ryan was hanging around to help take care of the kids.  2.  I didn't clean anything for three days.  3.  Or do laundry.  4.  My kids ate fruit snacks and plain white bread for lunch more than once.  5.  The rest of the house looks like a tornado went through it because the girls were allowed to do pretty much anything they wanted, as long as they stayed out of my way.  Basically, doing stuff like painting means letting everything else go.  I recommend this method to anyone...projects first, clean house second.

In other "what we've been up to" news, I made the girls cloud dough.  Occasionally, I get sucked into the abyss that is browse Pinterest and find all these really great ideas for the kids.  Except, I forget to go back and actually do the things I pinned.  I'm trying to fix that, so I figured I'd start with something that only required two ingredients.  Two ingredients I happened to have on hand.

Flour (8 cups)
Baby oil (1 cup)

Mix it together, and poof!  Amazing child entertainment.  And honestly, it does feel really cool to run your fingers through it.

Good thing I decided to do this while the weather is still warm because it looks like a small flour storm hit the back porch.  It does clean up pretty easily, but goodness it's a mess.  And it lasted a few days before the girls mixed it up with a bunch of dirt and water, which they called "baby applesauce" and fed to their baby dolls.  They have fabulous imaginations.

And that just about covers what we've been up to this week.  We have quite the exciting life, I know.  Try not to be too envious.
