Old Lady Molly and Young Guy Maverick
The girls and I hung out at the construction site most of yesterday. Mia paid no mind, but it was like a playground for Laci. Sand and rock piles for climbing up and sliding down, wood scraps and brooms, and cousin Evan to play with. Laci followed that boy around all day, in that, "You are the coolest person I've ever met" kind of way. I think she said, "Eban!" 384 times. She just wants to do what the "big" kids are doing these days.
And this one, not such an outdoorsey-type of girl...yet. She doesn't mind a fresh breeze, but direct sunlight? No thank you. But she's a happy girl, and that's how we like our girls around here...happy.
My two girls are already so different from each other. I think they'll be great friends, you know, as long as there isn't any physical contact between them.
Me: "Hey Laci, lay down next to your sister so I can take a picture."
Laci: Frowns. Folds arms. Lays down slowly. Rolls toward sister, but makes sure she isn't touching. Whatever happens, whatever mom says, do not smile. Do. Not. Smile.
Me: Click. Click. Click.
Laci: Rolls away and ignores sister's presence.
Mia: Big sister is pretty cool, I think. I also think the ceiling fan is cool. And things that move. And things that don't move. I'm so happy. La la la.
It was a good weekend, full of good food and good family time. All the things I need to feel happy and content. This morning, we awoke to rain, and even though the skies are dark and clouded, I think it will be a good week, too.
