Dear Sweet, Handsome Boy,
Today you are two months old. I used your last size one diaper this morning and your size three month onesies are getting snug. You are growing too fast, my boy.
You are a happy boy, content to kick on the floor watching the world go by, most of the time. In fact, you often prefer to lay on the floor instead of being rocked or carried. This is not to say you don't have your moments of needless crying, but they are manageable.
I pulled you in my bed this morning around 4:30. You were up for a fresh diaper and a snack and I could see your eyes wide open in the dark. Clearly, you thought it was time to start the day. It was not. So I wrapped you up in the blankets and snuggled close to you. You couldn't resist the warmth and went back to sleep for a good long while. Thank you, your momma needed that. I also need your snuggles, a lot. I don't get to enjoy them enough with so many other things to take care of during the day.
Your baby acne is in full force. Grammy calls it the gootchy rash. And your hair is thinning. No worries, both your sisters were bald by four months with a full head of new hair by a year. You'll have luscious locks soon enough and then I'll cry when I have to cut it.
You are getting better at holding up your head and don't mind a little tummy time. Sometimes you are lazy at tummy time and just lay there. That's okay, holding up your own head can be a lot of work. Sometimes I wish I could just lay right there beside you, not holding up my too heavy head.
Mia is still obsessed with you. This morning, she lay next to you on the floor drinking her milk for at least half an hour. She patted your hand and stared at you. You smile at her now when you see her. I am almost certain you will be good friends soon. You'll need to be tough to stand up to her, but she'll also protect you if you need it.
You're generous with your smiles and make sweet baby sounds in the morning. I love when you lock eyes with me and study my face when I talk to you. And you do love to be talked to. I wonder if you will be chatty like your sisters.
One of my most favorite things about having you in our family is watching you and daddy hang out together. You look a lot like him and I hope you learn to be a good man like him. You have a very good daddy. You should know that.
I'm pretty sure boys don't like all this sappy stuff, so I'll try to lighten it up a bit. You are a super cool dude little man.
Lots of love,
Momma
