Dress Shopping - Take Two

What is that blur?  THAT is a toddler in a bridal shop running as fast as she can, and as close to the dresses as possible.  I braved round two with a toddler in a dress shop on Saturday.  I'm proud to say we left far less slobber on the mirrors and there was far less yelling than last time.  AND Kristina found a dress.  Well, not just A dress, THE dress.  Yay!

So, what happens when you spend three hours in a bridal shop with a toddler?
First, you carry her around as long as possible and keep her from touching anything.
Then, she gets impatient and you put her down to walk for a little bit.
At this point, you realize the shoes you put on her are too slippery for the tile floor.
So, you take them off and let her walk barefoot.
About ten minutes later, you realize that her feet are turning black, but there really isn't anything you can do about it, because if you try to contain her on your lap it will no doubt end in screaming and crying and writhing around like a fish out of water.  None of which sounds appealing to me.

So you smile, and let your dirty barefooted baby run around the shop like a maniac.
And smile again because the sales people think you have lost your mind.
Don't worry, they are too interested in making a sale to tell you that you've lost your mind.
And you smile some more, because, really, there isn't much else you can do.
And then you put your baby up on the pedestal so she can practice stepping up and down.

Then she takes a timeout with her auntie and a set of car keys.
The keys will make her slobber profusely, but will occupy her for quite a while.

Then she'll find the mirrors again and talk to herself.
And smile.
And possibly yell.
She might even try to walk through them.

And she'll say "OooOooOoo!"
We say that a lot in our house.

Then she'll act like she wants to nurse, except there are WAY too many exciting things happening outside the nursing cover to concentrate.  So, she'll have to peek out every minute or so to assess the situation before going back under for a little sip.

Then, if you're lucky, about five minutes before you have to leave, after the dress has been chosen and ordered and paid for, and the chairs put back into place, and everyone has gathered their purse and is ready to go...maybe, just MAYBE...she'll sit still for a minute.  Then you might be able to take a picture of her that isn't blurry.  Maybe.
