Just Another Sunday Evening

So, technically, it isn't evening.  It is 10:30 at night and I should be in bed by now.  But I'm telling myself it is still evening so as to try to trick myself into thinking I won't be tired in the morning.  I've been sifting through at least 300 pictures taken on Saturday of Laci's First Birthday Party and I can't seem to stop.  Before you go thinking I'm all crazy and took 300 pictures by myself, let me just say that I was assisted by my mom and my husband, who are equally insane about taking pictures of Laci.  Anyhow, those will be shared at a later time when I can narrow them down to an acceptable number of blog-worthy pictures.  I'm sure you're not ready for 300 pictures taken within a 3 hour time span - even I couldn't handle that many.

In the meantime, I wanted to share these randoms of Laci, mostly for Aunty Jenny.

Aunty Jenny?  Are you reading today?  We hope so.  See Laci wearing the awesome Belle sunglasses you got for her?  She loved them.  For about three seconds.  Then she figured out you can take them off.
So she did.
Repeatedly.

Here we have the official first ponytail.  I waited a long time to do this because I'm not a huge fan of the little bug antenna ponytails.  I mean, I understand they are a necessary part of being a baby girl.  And sometimes, they are cute.  And most women go crazy over them.  Guess I'm just weird, but nothing new there.

I gave in the other day and created a cute little ponytail sticking straight out of the top of her head.  Then attempted to capture it forever in a picture so that I wouldn't feel obligated to do it again for a while.  Except she would not hold still.  Nothing new there either.  I'm getting sick of blurry photos.  The solution most likely lies in my ability to learn to take better pictures of moving subjects, since the possibility of her sitting still enough for a picture in the near future is pretty much nil.

Here it is again, except I was so focused on getting her little body in the frame that I failed to realize you can't see her ponytail against the trees in the background.  But I think you get the idea.  And I'll admit, it might have been a little cute.

Can you see the determination on her face?  She was walking toward the ponds, something that gives Ryan's mother, my father, my mother, and my mother's mother heart attacks.  As with most things that are supposed to be off limits, the ponds are very intriguing and can draw her in like a magnet.  Far behind her is a nice shady, green, grassy area complete with a baby pool, toys, and now a swing.  However, she would much prefer to tromp through the star thistle and weeds than to play in the "front yard."  I spend a lot of time following her these days.  I've said it before and I'll say it again, cages are not meant just for animals.  I'm thinking some fence building may be in our future.
