Dear Little Man,
Happy five month birthday! You're getting to be a pretty big guy.
Stop it!
Please.
Please.
In the last month, you have learned, and now perfected, rolling from your back to tummy and back again. You have also learned this repeated rolling will get you places. Like across the room or closer to your toys. I'm sure the next step will be learning to scoot or crawl, but really, it's okay if you take your time with that.
In the last month, you also got sick for the first time. A fever and belly ache for a few days. There was lots of crying, gagging on your medicine, messy diapers, laundry, and lots of cuddling with momma. Being sick isn't any fun. I know, because we were sick at the same time. That fever certainly makes your body ache.
You are obsessed with watching us eat. I suppose it's about time I let you try out some food. Mean ole momma likes your milk-only diet. Very few tummy aches, nutritious, and completely convenient and portable. Maybe next month. In the meantime, you can continue to stare as we stuff our faces and grab at whatever is in your reach. In fact, not even bottles are safe from you. Just the other day, you stole Harper's bottle and started drinking it. You were not happy when we took it from you. Not happy at all.
But most of the time, you ARE one very happy little guy. I love your little smile and your dimple. I love the sounds you make when you "talk," and I love your little laugh. You like to grab my face while we talk and I really don't mind. And when you're tired, we call you Crush. Your eyes half close and you get a lazy grin and you look just like the daddy sea turtle on Finding Nemo.
A few other fun facts:
You drool bucket fulls.
Wake up too often at night.
Nap terribly.
Have green eyes.
Love animals.
Hate loud, sudden noises. They make you cry.
Hate the wind.
Love your fuzzy blankets.
You love your sisters. I can only imagine the trouble you and Mia are going to get into. She loves you so much, but she's a mischevious one. She will show you all kinds of fun things to do, I'm sure. The other morning, she was sitting on the floor and had pulled you into her lap. "You're not supposed to pick up Noah," I told her. So she says, "I not holding him. I just dropping him." Yeah, I know. For the record, she didn't really drop you, I made sure of that. But it's a good idea to be cautious around that crazy girl.
Five months is getting pretty big. It means you're big enough to like the jumperoo and to hold toys and roll around. But you're still my little boy (probably always will be). I love your middle of the night snuggles. They make me tired, but it's one of the few times I get to hold you without interruptions. And you are still little enough to enjoy the moby wrap, you took three naps in there today while I shopped, and chased your sisters, and wandered aimlessly because the motion makes you happy.
I'm sure you've figured it out by now, but I'll say it anyway...I love you. We all love you. We are so happy to have you in our family.
Love,
Your momma
such a sweet lovable baby boy!
