cherry tomatoes and other garden goodies

Laci is no stranger to the fresh fruits and veggies in my parents' garden, but Mia is just discovering a whole new world.  A world where you can EAT food right off the plant.  And for a girl as obsessed with food as Mia, it doesn't get any better than this.

 Her newest discovery:  Cherry tomatoes.

Excuse me now while I post entirely too many pictures of cute, little tomatoes. Because, like weeding, picking cherry tomatoes has become a sort of therapy for me.  It feels good to feel the sun on my shoulders as I search for perfectly red little fruits and fill up baskets.  It's a tedious job, since the plants are small giants and it takes quite a few tomatoes to fill a basket, but it helps clear my head.  And I can also be my photo-obsessed self and take pictures like I'm in some sort of tomato jungle.

How cool would this picture be if I actually had the right equipment?

Mia has her own version of "helping" which includes dumping the zucchini and cucumbers in the dirt and stomping on the tomatoes.  She also feeds handfuls of tomatoes to Maverick, who enjoys them more than a dog should.

By the way she gnaws on her pears, you'd never know little Shark Bait (aka Mia) still only has two bottom teeth.  (Well, she actually cut a third tooth, a top one, this morning, but these pictures were taken before then).

And corn on the cob?  No problem.  Teeth are not required.

Yep, she killed that whole cob by the end of dinner.

Summer.  Garden.  Food.
The perfect trio.
