Day One
When I married Ryan, I thought that someday, he'd be a good dad. He was good with his niece and liked kids, and I just figured being a dad would come to him naturally. But, I didn't know what kind of good dad he'd be until our sweet little girl came rushing into the world. I didn't know how much help he would be to me, or how devoted he would be to our baby, or how hard he would work to make us all happy, or how happy I would be to see him at the end of each (sometimes long) day. To say the least, he has exceeded all of my expectations.

Despite the fact that he has changed only a handful of dirty diapers, he is a very devoted daddy. Watching him change a diaper has actually become very amusing for me as it usually involves quite a bit of gagging and complaining. Ok, a LOT of gagging. A LOT. But, he is the first to hold Laci's hand and walk laps around the house, the first to tell her to "be careful" when she's getting too brave, and the first to kiss her goodnight. His patience holds up when mine is spent at the end of the day and he works his tail-end off so I can enjoy staying home with our girl. I really couldn't ask for more.

Happy Fathers' Day to you Ryan, just a little late, and to all the other Fathers out there doing the best they can for their families.
