Hearts Beating

Yesterday, my dear Great Grandma passed away. She lived a long life and I feel so lucky to have known her. Not many people get to know their Great Grandparents. As a kid, I remember her reading and knitting quite often, and she would watch Jeopardy almost every night. Maybe that is where I get my obsession with the show. Sadly, her body got too old and her mind aged too much. I believe she is resting peacefully now, though I will miss her presence in our family.

While Great Granny's heart stopped beating yesterday, I first heard the heartbeats of the tiny person inside me. It was the most amazing thing I've ever heard. Watching it wiggle around on the screen, and trust me it wiggled A LOT, was a very surreal experience. At only 10 1/2 weeks, little baby is only a few centimeters long but appears to be very healthy. It was doing a little dance for us, or at least that is what it looked like, and we could see its little heart beating.
Ryan and I are so excited to meet our little one at the end of the summer. Baby would have been Great Granny's FOURTH Great Great Grandchild. I think February 2nd is a date I will always remember as a day of hearts beating...an old one stopping and a new one starting.
