This morning my baby woke up happy.
I laid her on the bed and she wiggled and stretched and kicked.
She waved her arms and tested her fingers.
Then she smiled.
And just to make sure I didn't miss it, she smiled again.
A big, toothless grin resulting only
from the sheer joy of being able to wiggle around.
Suddenly, the last two weeks of nose sucking, coughing,
and unconsolable crying seemed a world away because
today she smiled and to a baby,
TODAY is all that matters.
(now...if only I could catch that elusive smile with the camera)
